In 1997, Tom hitchhiked from England to India with no money at all.
Over the next four months his journey took him through 11 countries until he arrived in Goa with just one dollar left in his pocket.The following year a self-published edition of "Hand to Mouth to India" sold out in Goa and this success led Alchemy Books to publish it in London in July 2000.
